"Highly recommend this middle grade reader series. I have always loved Margaret Peterson Haddix and that she delves into so many different genres. I was in a serious book slump when this came in for me on ebook at my library. I read it in one day and then read through the 2nd one but had to put myself 1st on the list for the 3rd and last in the series. It’s a fast paced series that has parallel worlds, good vs evil, kids being in situations where they need to save the adults from great peril but it will have you on the edge of your seat! I really loved these and recommended them to every kid of this age group that I could. "

"I enjoyed how the writing was from three different perspectives. Sometimes that method makes a book feel fragmented, but no so here. The book piqued my interest from the beginning. It was rather fun to try to piece the clues together. I felt the book lost some of the intrigue and became more predictable toward the end, but I still enjoyed the read and think many younger readers would, too."
"This was literally a book that I knew nothing about but purchased because the cover is so intriguing... And I could not have been more pleased about it. This story is not one I'm going to try to explain or summarize. There is too much that twists and turns in different directions, in a good way. The story kept me guessing all the way through it and I was riveted the whole time. Chess, Emma, Finn, and Natalie form their own little tribe to try and solve each step of the mystery together and the end leaves you realizing that the bond isn't going to go away when everything is resolved come the end of the series. I definitely will be getting the rest of the series to read. I am anxious to learn what happens next."
