"Karin Slaughter never fails. She weaves complex characters that are relatable and draw you into the story. This book is no exception. It was basically a locked room mystery. I figured out part of the mystery pretty early but I attribute that to life experiences. That said I love the Will Trent series and it keeps getting better. I love how Will always runs into former group home residents. I also liked that they were watching the Will Trent television show in the book. A+"
"Love the Will Trent series. Slaughter has created fantastic characters. This was about a murder at a remote family owned mountain retreat where Will and Sarah were honeymooning at. However, the family did have some very dark secrets."

"Good but not my favorite. Great character development as usual. I feel like I could look all these people up on Facebook.

Will and Sarah are in their honeymoon. Will realizes the family that owns it adopted his enemy from the children’s home. Not only did they adopt him, but he married their daughter mercy. He was awful to Mercy and would beat her. But she’s used to it. Her father did the same thing to her. Her mom didn’t care as long as she could have young boys around. Mercy ends up dead. Everyone is a suspect because her family mistreated her and wanted to sell the retreat but she refused to sign off on her part. We find out Mercy’s son did it. Mercy’s mom told him mercy would take him away from her and that she’s the only one who ever protected him from his abusive father. He goes into a rage and stabs mercy to death. His abusive father takes the fall as an order from the mom who he thinks saved him by adopting him. Not by sexually abusing him for herself."
