The universe is a glitterball I hold in the palm of my hand. Once the golden boy of the English literary scene, now a clinically depressed writer of pulp crime fiction, Ash Winters has given up on love, hope, happiness, and -- most of all -- himself. He lives his life between the cycles of his illness, haunted by the ghosts of other people's expectations. Then a chance encounter at a stag party throws him into the arms of Essex boy Darian Taylor, an aspiring model who lives in a world of hair gel, fake tans, and fashion shows. By his own admission, Darian isn't the crispest lettuce in the fridge, but he cooks a mean cottage pie and makes Ash laugh, reminding him of what it's like to step beyond the boundaries of anxiety. But Ash has been living in his own shadow for so long that he can't see past the glitter to the light. Can a man who doesn't trust himself ever trust in happiness? And how can a man who doesn't believe in happiness ever fight for his own?

"This book blew me away. It's so rare to see an accurate depiction of mental illness and how it impacts relationships. I love this book so much, it had me gasping the whole way through. The representation I felt both as a queer man and a man who struggles with mental illness was absolutely amazing. I picked up this book because I love Alexis Hall and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest."
"<strong>Unlike any other romance</strong><br/><br/>I realty liked this book. It really was unlike any other m/m I've ever read. Alexis Hall didn't reinvent the genre, her just did things a little differently. At first neither one of the Mc's was all that likeable. Ash was a mean little bitch and Darian was a loud annoying glitter pirate. But then, c they both kind of grew on you, especially Darian. I am in love with that man.<br/>The story was good. It gave me everything I needed and a few things I didn't know I needed. There was plenty of sex, and it was well written, but this book isn't what I'd call hot. Jaknowwhatimean? <br/><br/>This book didn't make me cry ( well I did tear up a little towards the end ) and it's didn't make me hard, but I did tell enjoy it and I recommend it very much."
