"Okay, so I just finished "A Time to Kill" by John Grisham and let me tell you, this book was a wild ride! Grisham definitely knows how to spin a gripping legal thriller.
The story follows Carl Lee Hailey, a Black man whose young daughter is brutally assaulted by a couple of racist white guys. When the justice system fails him, Carl takes matters into his own hands, leading to a trial that explodes into a racial battleground.
You've got Jake Brigance, the young lawyer defending Carl, who's facing a tough fight against a powerful prosecutor and a town deeply divided by prejudice. The courtroom drama is intense, and Grisham does a great job of exploring themes of justice, revenge, and the complexities of race in the American South.
There were a few moments that felt a bit predictable, but overall, the suspense kept me hooked. If you're looking for a page-turner that will make you think, definitely give "A Time to Kill" a try.
4.5 out of 5 stars"
"I read this, and many more, years ago. I have recently discovered Karin Slaughter, so I’ve been working through her books. They are very long. The Perfect Daughter was very good. Next for me is Pretty Girls."
