A lone girl determined to survive. The feral wolf she must learn to trust. Only one chance to escape their icy planet: a race across the deadly tundra.Seventeen-year-old Sena Korhosen hates the sled race, especially after it claimed both her mothers' lives five years ago. Alone on her frozen planet, she makes money any other way she can--until she double-crosses a local gangster. Desperate to escape, Sena flees with his prized fighting wolf, Iska, and takes an offer from a team of scientists. They'll pay her way off-world, on one condition--that she uses the survival skills her mothers taught her to get them to the end of the race. But the tundra is a treacherous place. When the race threatens their lives at every turn, Sena must discover whether her abilities are enough to help them survive the wild, and whether she and Iska together are strong enough to get them all out alive. As the girl and the wolf forge a tenuous bond and fight to escape ice goblins, giant bears, and the ruthless gang leader intent on trapping them both, one question drives them relentlessly forward: Where do you turn when there is nowhere to hide?Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves is a captivating, breathless debut about survival and found family that delivers a fresh twist on classic survival stories.

"My most favorite book so far! Not usually into sci-fi and books with a lack of romance but this one totally blew me away! Loved the writing + description and the whole theme of the book. The planet was super cool and the girl was fierce. This should totally be made into a movie. It would be so epic!"
"This book was a highly anticipated one for me and it certainly lived up to that anticipation and all the hype. I want more of this world and these characters now. This was a bit different than other stories I've read in this vein of things but different in a good way.
It started with a bang and was fast-paced, intense, and heavily emotional throughout the whole book. I loved seeing how Sena was learning how to survive and thrive in this cold place on her own and how she was learning to deal with her emotions over everything that happened in her life. Her connection with Iska, the wolf was very special, strong, and moving and drove the story a lot of the time. The other characters that come into play are very well written and I loved the characters with Remy and Pana and the Professor too. I was very engaged up until the very end and had a hard time putting this one down. This story got me all in the feels and made me pretty emotional in parts. I did find myself wondering about a few things at/after the end like about her friend that helped her in the beginning, the possible love interest. The found family was one of the best things in this story that I loved.
I would highly recommend picking this one up and checking it out if you haven't already. Don't miss out on this one. Thanks so much to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press/Wednesday Books for letting me read and review this awesome story. All thoughts and opinions are my own."
"With a difficult title to remember, I wasn't sure what to expect from Long's new book. Sena is a pickpocket who does what she needs to survive on a harsh planet overrun by thieves, tourists and monsters. She spends much of the first part of the book running away from the legacy of her parents and in the end she is forced to chose. Does she follow in their footsteps or keep the walls she has built to protect herself? This book is fast paced and easy to follow along. I honestly loved it until the ending. Because realistically does a dog belong on a space ship?? Not sure why this bothers me but it does. lol Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's press for giving me this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. Im rounding up to 5 stars but this was a 4.5 for me based on the ending."
"This debut was magically transporting! Swept away to the harsh, brutal colds of Tundar with familiar, yet enhanced, animals. The relationship between Sena and this red-furred fighting wolf had me aching at every devastating turn throughout the plot. I loved the concept of the Scavver people living off the land on out in the woods, revealing against the Corporations that started the deadly race. Aside from the 3 grammatical errors I stumbled upon, the book is worth every penny, and a re-read! "
