"Great characters and world building. With good world building came quite a bit of tedious detail, but the storyline kept my interest. The ending was a bit underwhelming- but I’m very excited for the next book in the series. "

"Would highly recommend, but felt slow at times. I’m sure every detail will eventually be important, but there were times it felt like the plot wasn’t moving forward. The writing, itself, was excellent. The climax happened in only a matter of pages and ended the book on a cliffhanger. "

"DNF around 25% in. The writing was different from her typical style, next to nothing had happened, we were introduced to entirely too many characters to care about any of them. I had to check 3x to make sure this was in fact the first book of a series- way too much time jumping through dialog yet expecting the readers to know the 12(?) Royal houses, town names and correct salutations."
