"I’ve been curious about this book for awhile and didn’t realize how short it was until recently so I finally decided to pick it up and I really enjoyed it!! I always struggle with classics because I always feel like I’m not smart enough to understand what the story is trying to say and while I might not have fully understood this one either, I had a fun time reading it! I love that this is one of the first vampire stories and it’s unmistakably sapphic and it was written in the 1800s! I also loved getting to see how so many other famous vampires were inspired by Carmilla. Just a very short, atmospheric read that’s perfect for spooky season!"
"Knowing vaguely the story of Carmilla, I was excited going into this! It really was interesting seeing how gradual it became in that Carmilla was not all that she seemed. Of course, I was won over by the often sapphic undertones and was just interested in both Carmilla and Laura’s relationship while also knowing it would all go wrong by the end. Great book!"
