"An excellent book for younger readers that enjoy historical fiction! Admittedly, the plot slows quite a bit in the middle of the book, but the beginning and end are both fast-paced and will get your heart pounding! I have never learned much about Lithuania or Russia during my years in school, and had previously never heard a thing about the book smugglers in the early 1900s. It’s a fascinating concept, keeping one’s culture alive by preserving the books and native language. It’s a topic for discussion that I believe can benefit the younger reader, who may not understand the true value of the written word in its ability to preserve history and to spark ideas for the future."
