The Girl in the Steel Corset

"This was my second steampunk novel and so far I'm not totally sure what I think of the genre. This, to me, was hard to read. It was very detailed oriented, I found myself skimming bits and pieces here and there to get to the story. I was expecting a fast pace novel for the plot of this book. While it wasn't at a crawl, it wasn't at a gallop either.<br/><br/>I liked the story, even though I had a hard time with all the details. The plot was really interesting to me. The idea of the 'Little Beasties' was interesting. I liked Finley, Griff, Jasper and even Jack Dandy. I'm hoping that the details were just a lot of world building, because I do plan on trying out the second novel.<br/><br/>I know I wasn't as impressed with this as others seemed to have been. But, despite everything, I did like it. I didn't hate it. I'm actually interested in what happens after the ending of this book. It has a great plot, hopefully I can focus better when the next one comes out."

Before bringing Finley into his house, Griffin and his motley crew were trying to find and eliminate their greatest enemy "The Machinist" who almost killed Sam and has been using automotons to create unrest. The Machinist is planning something big and Griffin knows that they will need Finley to help bring the villain to justice but not everyone trusts Finley's darker side. Kady Cross spins an intriguing tale which incorporates aspects of steampunk, fantasy, horror, and classic stories, such as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, to create a new, unique and fast paced thrill ride. For young adults and adults alike that loved The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Van Helsing will love this series. Highly recommended. Ages 16+"
