Neither side has gained an advantage, and the threat of a betrayal by Dalinar’s crafty ally Taravangian looms over every strategic move. Now, as new technological discoveries by Navani Kholin’s scholars begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals, and potentially reveal the secrets of the ancient tower that was once the heart of their strength. At the same time that Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with his changing role within the Knights Radiant, his Windrunners face their own problem: As more and more deadly enemy Fused awaken to wage war, no more honorspren are willing to bond with humans to increase the number of Radiants. Adolin and Shallan must lead the coalition’s envoy to the honorspren stronghold of Lasting Integrity and either convince the spren to join the cause against the evil god Odium, or personally face the storm of failure.Other Tor books by Brandon SandersonThe CosmereThe Stormlight Archive● The Way of Kings● Words of Radiance● Edgedancer (novella)● Oathbringer● Dawnshard (novella)● Rhythm of WarThe Mistborn SagaThe Original Trilogy● Mistborn● The Well of Ascension● The Hero of AgesWax and Wayne● The Alloy of Law● Shadows of Self● The Bands of Mourning● The Lost MetalOther Cosmere novels● Elantris● Warbreaker● Tress of the Emerald Sea● Yumi and the Nightmare Painter● The Sunlit ManCollection● Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere CollectionThe Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians series● Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians● The Scrivener's Bones● The Knights of Crystallia● The Shattered Lens● The Dark Talent● Bastille vs. the Evil Librarians (with Janci Patterson)Other novels● The Rithmatist● Legion: The Many Lives of Stephen Leeds● The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval EnglandOther books by Brandon SandersonThe Reckoners● Steelheart● Firefight● CalamitySkyward● Skyward● Starsight● Cytonic● Skyward Flight (with Janci Patterson)● DefiantAt the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

"Finally finished the last book of this series (for now) and this was my least favorite. Somehow, this one finds a way to have less substance and more sidequesting than previous ones. For 1200 pages, having to wait until part 4 for any action is just too much for me. Still an amazing story and you have to finish the series if you start, but this was the least focused book to me. "
"Hmmm. It's like this story didn't get started until the 45% mark. At a grand total of 57.5 hrs long, that's A LOT of book to get through before something really interesting happens! The first time I started reading it, I didn't make it that far. This time I pushed through, and at least the second half was less of a slog. Less, but not slog-free.

The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, they are just excellent books. I bought hard bound copies. I highlighted quotes and sections. They're brilliant in a number of ways. But like his other epics, compromise set in around book three. Dynamic characters became place holders for plot progression. Even so, more time was taken while less actually happened.

So there were some bright spots and a few interesting plot points in this installment, but overall the tone felt ... obligatory. The story could have packed significantly more punch with significantly less words, less head-hopping, but the narration plodded on, committed to give us every last development on a micro and macro scale that just didn't really matter that much...

Once upon a time i was excited for the prospect of ten books in this series. But I finished this book and I simply do not want to read any more. Not really ever.

Bummer."

"Back into the fray in the wild wonderful universe that is Brandon Sanderson's cosmere. I bought my copy the day it came out, but was reluctant to start for two reasons, 1. The massive heft of a brick of this book and 2. The initial reviews. I saw a lot of, "it's so slow", "give me more Dalinar", "there isn't any actions"......shame on me for not starting it sooner.

I felt like this book was a different tone as for the rest of the series. Instead of massive Shard duels, the author really fleshed out the characters. The depths he goes with Khaladin's depression is just incredible, and brave, really bringing empathy to the character and "war hero". Who I was surprised to actually love as a main character in this series was Navani. The reluctant Puppet master, she really showed how everything worked, as well as getting to know the "enemy".

Can't wait for the next one, I won't hesitate nearly as long."
