Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels is having a bad week. Her live-in boyfriend has left her for his personal trainer, chronic insomnia has caused her to max out her credit cards with late-night home shopping purchases, and a frightening killer who calls himself 'The Gingerbread Man' is dumping mutilated bodies in her district. While avoiding the FBI and its moronic profiling computer, joining a dating service, mixing it up with street thugs, and parrying the advances of an uncouth PI, Jack and her binge-eating partner, Herb, must catch the maniac before he kills again...and Jack is next on his murder list. Whiskey Sour is the first book in the bestselling Jack Daniels series, full of laugh-out-loud humor and edge-of-your-seat suspense.

"I have a really complicated relationship with this book that differs from a lot of other review I’ve read. I love how this book is written, it’s compelling and easy to read and I really enjoy the perspective change between chapters when we’re following the killer. This would have been one of my favorite books if it weren’t for Jack. She’s kind of a dick. She’s rude, makes stupid decisions for having been a cop so long, and generally isn’t very likable. I can’t tell if this is on purpose or not, but I think it evens out with a lot of what Jack goes through in the book, her actions and attitude for the most part have consequences and the world of the book will slap her down if she gets too full of herself. The book is also filled with fun and interesting side characters as well who I hope to see more of as I finish the series!"
