Discover the New York Times bestselling series from Jennifer L. Armentrout. Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring...until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.And then he opened his mouth.Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me.You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.Read the entire bestselling series!#1: Obsidian (from Katy's point of view)#2: Onyx (from Katy's point of view)#3: Opal (from Katy's point of view)#4: Origin#5: OppositionOblivion (Books 1-3 from Daemon's point of view) CAN BE READ FIRST OR AFTER KATY'S POV!Prequel: Shadows (Dawson's story)

"What makes a book great? For me, a great book makes me feel giddy the whole time I’m reading it even if it’s a re-read and Obsidian did just that!"

"I love how fast the book reads, also the story is interesting. About young forbidden love with an alien. DOD’s use of the alien race and knowledge of their existence. Personally I love how the relationship evolves between the main characters in book. Love the way everything unfolds. "
"One of the worst books I've read in a long time.

First off, the names. Lux. Light in Latin. Really? How CONVENIENT. How CREATIVE Of you.
Damon Black. Again, SO MUCH CREATIVITY.

Second off, the lack of explanations. "I'm not a scientist so I'm not exactly sure how it works." NO ATTEMPT TO MAKE ME BELIEVE IN YOUR ALIENS. Like okay I'm no bio major but I still Know generally what the parts of my body are and how they function. I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS LACK OF EFFORT.

Third off, the main character. STOP BEING SUCH A STUPID PUSH OVER. I know some people view Katie as a "strong" female lead because she cusses from time to time and makes ample use of her middle finger. But does she say no?? NO. and saying no but doing said thing anyway DOES NOT COUNT AS BEING STRONG. And going to the library when there's a kidnapper on the loose in a SMALL TOWN when Dee REPEATEDLY warns you is a STUPID MOVE, come on, there are other ways to get the plot rolling and plenty of other moments to have the guy save the girl.

******* this lack of creativity.

Fourth off, this "relationship". Almost kisses several times: "oh no no his liking me is more far-fetched than being an alien. Me with my too curvy hips and puffy lips and book worminess could not possibly be the object of his love" (obviously not a direct quote but the gist of the first 5 chapters I kid you not). It doesn't help that Damon's entire purpose here is to invite her places, make out with her, and then insult her and yell at her for being there in the first place because she's endangering his family. YOU INVITED ME HERE LIKE WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM.

FIFTH OFF: When Damon reveals that he's an alien she claims that a vampire or werewolf would be more probable/believable. This is not necessarily plot related but it irks me because it's ignorance speaks volumes.

Sixth off: the prose. The description of Damon bordered on being part of an amateur sex novel, and Katie's whiny-ness reminded me of Bella from the much acclaimed/hated Twilight series. It seems this book is headed in the same direction: a romance-ish novel with some paranormal thrown in there to give it something that failed by itself and, whadya know, fails with it as well."
