Stephen King
The second book in Stephen King’s Bill Hodges trilogy (Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch)—now an AT&T Audience Original Series! “Stephen King’s superb stay-up-all-night thriller is a sly tale of literary obsession that recalls the themes of his classic 1987 novel Misery” (The Washington Post)—the #1 New York Times bestseller about the power of storytelling, starring the same trio of unlikely and winning heroes Stephen King introduced in Mr. Mercedes.“Wake up, genius.” So announces deranged fan Morris Bellamy to iconic author John Rothstein, who once created the famous character Jimmy Gold and hasn’t released anything since. Morris is livid, not just because his favorite writer has stopped publishing, but because Jimmy Gold ended up as a sellout. Morris kills his idol and empties his safe of cash, but the real haul is a collection of notebooks containing John Rothstein’s unpublished work...including at least one more Jimmy Gold novel. Morris hides everything away—the money and the manuscripts no one but Gold ever saw—before being locked up for another horrific crime. But upon Morris’s release thirty-five years later, he’s about to discover that teenager Pete Saubers has already found the stolen treasure—and no one but former police detective Bill Hodges, along with his trusted associates Holly Gibney and Jerome Robinson, stands in the way of his vengeance... Not since Misery has Stephen King played with the notion of a reader and murderous obsession, filled with “nail biting suspense that’s the hallmark of [his] best work” (Publishers Weekly).

"3.5 stars. Better than Mr Mercedes ending with an inclination toward some extrasensory powers near the end. Still more of a detective story / kid in danger story. But again great character development by King. I love his more Supernatural stories , with all the interconnected dystopian world building. So I’m not as interested in stories set in the real world, with real world problems. But, I’m reading these to get more insight into Holly Gibney character which is much more interesting in this story. I have already started End of Watch and I do enjoy how each story starts with basically the same actions from different POV. The stories seem to weave around each other. If you enjoyed the obsessive fan actions of Misery, you’ll find motivations in this book fun. "

"This trilogy is turning out to be better than I expected, which doesn’t surprise me, as King can weave a story like no other. This book was a fast paced page turner. Absolutely delightful. "

"The second in the series takes a turn focusing on a family who’s father was a victim of the job fair massacre. The family consists of mom and dad, a sister and the main character Peter a teen who find a chest hidden for 30 years by Morris who is infatuated with a character in a book. Morris has a hard time dealing with the fantasy of the book and realism. The chest Peter finds contains a massive amount of money which he secretly sends his family each month to help them through the hard times. But the most important thing in the chest are written notebooks with unfinished novels. I enjoyed this transition and it ultimately brings Hodges and his team back together to help Peter out. Hodges continues to visit Brady, now a vegetable, but is he really? We will find out in the next and last book of the trilogy."
"Read this book a while ago not realizing that it was apart of a series. Didn't skip a beat with it being a trilogy from what I understand this trilogy is related but can be stand alone books. I always thought that Stephen King was a honor author but he is also an amazing mystery writer. Great book that will be hard for you to put down."
