"This whole world he describes so well. I'm right beside the as they travel across Alagaesia. I'm in love with the characters this story just unlike anything in the world. I have read these over and over. Every book an adventure and rooting for the home team. You seem to grow up with Eragon and Saphira. Learning with them traveling with them these are the best types of stories. You are pulled out of you world into theirs and there are no regrets."
"To me this book is slower than the first one. It seems like a good deal of the fluff could have been cut and that would have made it more enjoyable.

Also I really hate the Aria/Eragon dynamic in this book. Having to read page after page of him pinning after her while she steadfastly maintains her indifference towards him is infuriating. His meager approaches were clumsy and awkward and clearly not encouraged. At some point you have to take no for an answer and save the reader from the secondhand embarrassment. I also think Angela is a much better character than Aria. Maybe it's because she actually has a personality while Aria remains a distant personification of perfection. Despite being in a lot less of the book she made a much bigger impact. I think a relationship between her and Eragon would have been better.

The world building is impressive though and my favorite character makes at least a brief appearance so it's not all bad."
"Dropped the book. I seriously can't keep on reading it, which is pretty sad considering how much I liked the first one. But this one has just so much information I cannot seem to care about, like the cousin's journey, I mean, yeah, that's important and all because *story plots* but I wouldn't have taken more than a chapter to explain what happened to him and his town and Elvenville is just so boring, there doesn't seem to be anything interesting going on despite Eragon finding this elven enemies-to-friends trope that just came out of nowhere... All in all at this point it seems more like a drag so I give up :("
"I struggled to continue reading during the first half but I know the first part of the book is as important as when the story started picking up and I found myself not being able to put it down! The plot twist before the end where Eragon’s parents are revealed was shocking! I can’t wait to read the next book and discover when and what will happen once Eragon and Murtagh face each other again. I am also wondering who will be the third dragon’s rider. I have a candidate in mind but I think he will be better as a soldier than a rider."
"My favorite of the series!"
