"Just read everything by her. An amazing writer that straddles the line between fantasy and scifi so well. Her dragon series, her Harper series, her Petaybee series, her Crystal series, her Talents series, all so good! They have science, space, romance, adventure, family, aliens, magic, mythical creatures; everything you could ever want from either genre."
"I LOVED these books as a teen. They captivated me and made me fall in love with dragons - an obsession I maintain to this day. If I had rated them then, it would have been 5 stars: A strong-willed, resourceful female lead marked for greatness, telepathy, animals, a brilliant blend of science and fantasy - what's not to love?

I don't know that the stories have aged well, but they shaped me. I owe so much of my love of fantasy and sci fi to these books, and regardless of their current appeal, McCaffrey knows how to weave a seamless and realistic tale."
"It may be dated, considering she wrote it in the 1970's, but it still holds up well. There are a lot of books in the series. You can read them in published order or chronological. It's fantasy, with dragons, on a different planet."
