"Mirrorland is an incredibly complex story with lots of plot twists. Cat returns to her childhood home when her twin sister has gone missing. She receives clues that force her to remember her life before. Each clue not only leads her to a place full of memories, but also a page of her sister's journal. Her memories are full of colorful imaginings. These include people, a witch, Bluebeard the Pirate, the Toothy Fairy, a girl named Mouse, a pirate crew, clowns, and more. "Perhaps everyone’s childhood memories are the same: part truth, part fantasy. But this house and our mother and her stories turned our imagination into a melting pot, a forge. A cauldron. And, I’m beginning to realize, I can trust nothing that came out of it." I almost stopped reading when the climax happened with 25% of the book left to read. I'm glad I persisted. The twists kept coming until the very end."

"It took me a while to get into the book at first, the way Carole writes really threw my head through loops. But once getting into it and getting use to her writing style, I really enjoyed this book. I didn't think it was too predictable, it seemed to me like the outcome could've been anything with all the twists."

"Very hard to get into. Slow start due to all the imagination at the beginning. However now that I finished it, the imaginations were necessary to the book. I wasn’t consumed by this book. Actually put it down after chapter 4 for about a month. But I’m glad I finished it as I never saw the twists and turns coming. I kept second guessing if Ross was actually bad or not. <br/>Cats twin sister El goes missing and cat just knows she’s alive even though they haven’t spoken in 12 years. Els husband is very distraught doesn’t know what happened. Turns out he’s an abusive psycho who tortured her for years. She stayed because he threatened to do the same to cat. Cat had always been in love with their childhood friend Ross and refused to see the bad in him. El got with him to keep him away from cat. Cat and el were abused growing up by their grandfather who turned out to be their dad. Their mom always lived in a fantasy world with them but was also teaching them life lessons on escaping without them knowing. On the night of their escape things went wrong and cat ended up killing the grandpa but she didn’t remember. Now that El is missing she remembers that Ross was going to help them but he’s actually the one who sabotaged the plan. They find els body and dna confirms it’s her and Ross is arrested and goes to jail after he almost killed cat too and she remembered everything from their past. Cat takes her ashes to the island they always dreamed about only to find el there. She faked her death and had to make cat think it was true too so she would remember what happened and remember Ross was evil. The body was of mouse. Who they thought was a cousin but was their triplet sister who was raised by the aunt. Who abused her as well. Mouse killed herself with the kills el planned to to kill heralded with."

"I loved this book! A mystery thriller about twin sisters, one has gone missing. It’s so clever and creepy. Once I got to page 140, I got full body chills and read the rest of the book that day. I have not read that much in one day in years, but I had to know what was going to happen. Highly recommend!"
