John Gwynne
Packed with myth, magic, and bloody vengeance, John Gwynne's "masterfully crafted, brutally compelling, Norse-inspired epic" (Anthony Ryan) continues in The Hunger of the Gods. THE DEAD GODS ARE RISING. Lik-Rifa, the dragon god of legend, has been freed from her eternal prison. Now she plots a new age of blood and conquest. As Orka continues the hunt for her missing son, the Bloodsworn sweep south in a desperate race to save one of their own-and Varg takes the first steps on the path of vengeance. Elvar has sworn to fulfill her blood oath and rescue a prisoner from the clutches of Lik-Rifa and her dragonborn followers, but first she must persuade the Battle-Grim to follow her. Yet even the might of the Bloodsworn and Battle-Grim cannot stand alone against a dragon god. Their only hope lies within the mad writings of a chained god. A book of forbidden magic with the power to raise the wolf god Ulfrir from the dead...and bring about a battle that will shake the foundations of the earth. "I was lukewarm about continuing this series after the first book. Really liked the world building and battle scenes but was not invested in the characters. Listened to this one versus reading the first one and that made a huge difference . Halfway through I started liking the characters. Can see this becoming a favorite series and am eagerly looking forward to the next book."

"The saga continues in book 2 of the bloodsworn trilogy and the good stuff just keeps coming. I honestly liked this better than book 1 and can’t wait to see how it all wraps up on book 3. I had actual tears numerous time (some good some sad). I hate Gudvarr but also eager to see where his added POV in this book leads with the rest of the story.
Orka is hands down a badass but Elvar was added to that list this book. "
"My favorite book of 2022. I've found with most epic fantasy trilogies, the middle book tends to lack a lot of what made the first book so great. That is not the case with this one. John Gwynne was able to make not only the characters, but also the world building, develop even further in this sequel. For days after reading this, I would reach for my kindle excited to get back into the book, until I remembered I'd already finished it. I just wanted more. "
"This is an amazing book series. I don't read often but i did listen to the audio book and the job the reader did was amazing. John Gwynne got me into the world of books with this series. The flow from the first book to the second book is smooth. I can not wait for the 3rd and final book in the series."
