Dacre Stoker
The prequel to Dracula, inspired by notes and texts left behind by the author of the classic novel, Dracul is a supernatural thriller that reveals not only Dracula’s true origins but Bram Stoker’s—and the tale of the enigmatic woman who connects them.It is 1868, and a twenty-one-year-old Bram Stoker waits in a desolate tower to face an indescribable evil. Armed only with crucifixes, holy water, and a rifle, he prays to survive a single night, the longest of his life. Desperate to record what he has witnessed, Bram scribbles down the events that led him here...A sickly child, Bram spent his early days bedridden in his parents' Dublin home, tended to by his caretaker, a young woman named Ellen Crone. When a string of strange deaths occur in a nearby town, Bram and his sister Matilda detect a pattern of bizarre behavior by Ellen—a mystery that deepens chillingly until Ellen vanishes suddenly from their lives. Years later, Matilda returns from studying in Paris to tell Bram the news that she has seen Ellen—and that the nightmare they've thought long ended is only beginning.

"I thought this book was going to be more biographical in nature, but to my surprise it was just a full on fiction novel. From what I had heard about the book it was meant to be inspired by Bram Stoker's real life and been heavily influenced by his own journals. And like, that is what they say in the afterword but... I'm sorry I'm just not buying what they're selling. The whole "Bram Stoker's decendant wrote this" thing really seems to be nothing more than a gimmick to sell the books and serve the Stoker estate. I don't see how Dacre Stoker would have had any special insight into the man as his great grand nephew, and if he wanted to explore Stoker's personal writings, he would have been better served to publish those instead. <br/>What we ended up with was a fanfiction fabrication of Bram Stoker's life, and while the story was interesting enough that I finished the book, it was not at all what I was expecting and not in a good way."
"This book was nothing short of utter PERFECTION. I went through this book in only 5 days and thought it was the spookiest, most well-written story that I had ever read. If you want a cozy book to help you experience the cool and crisp temperatures of the fall season, I highly recommend Dracul!!! You will not regret this bone chilling adventure of a ride. "
