After one too many margaritas, they decide to perform a love- cleansing spell, which promises to erase Gemma’s ex from her memory. They follow all the instructions, including a platonic kiss from Dax to seal the deal. When Gemma wakes up, she realizes that this silly spell has worked. Not only does it seem that she never dated her ex, but the rest of her life is completely unrecognizable. The worst part: Dax has no idea who she is.To reverse the spell and get back to her old life, Gemma must convince her once-best-friend-now-near-stranger to kiss her. But as she carries out her plans, she finds herself falling for him—hard. Soon, Gemma begins to wonder whether she even wants to go back to the way things once were. What if Dax was The One all along?

"3.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed the premise of this book but not all of its execution. I loved the magic and the alternate reality aspects. There were just parts that felt repetitive, like Gemma obsessing over losing her friendship with Dax or how many times she mentions the size of his man parts. I mean, I’m all for spice but I felt beat over the head. Some of the plot fell a little bit flat for me. Overall this was cute/fun and could have used some editing and fine tuning. "
"Imagine after a major breakup being able to flip into an alternate reality, saving yourself from heartbreak and instead meeting the love of your life!
28 year old Gemma is going through a breakup after a 4 year relationship with Stewart. She get together with her aunt and sister one evening, and after many, many Margaritas, they cast a spell so Gemma can forget Stewart. It so happens that on the very same night, she also met her very best friend Dax, and we learn early in that their meet was interrupted by Stewart who came along and swept Gemma off her feet. Dax has remained in Gemmas life for the same past 4 years, just supporting Gemma, and although he always remained totally in love with her, they continue on as best friends. The Morning after the Spell, Gemma wakes up in an alternate reality. She finds herself not only to have forgotten about her heartache, but she realizes Dax has no memory of her or the night they met.
From here, Gemma starts to realize how much Dax really love her as she tries to win him over, but they end up taking things to a whole other level of relationship.
A sweet and light quick read. No major High impact moments in this plot, but it's the perfect escape from a heavier read. A friends to lovers, follow your heart story with plenty of romance, spice, and personal growth milestones.
Thank you, Netgalley and Random House, for my Arc copy in exchange for my honest review"
"This was a quick and comforting read. The characters are lovable and at times a little quirky. The romance was cute and there were times I actually laughed out loud. I did have somewhat of a hard time staying engaged. I’ve been staying away from contemporary romances but this was a great palette cleanser.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchanged for my honest review."
"3.75 Stars Rounded to 4
Cover 3.5 Stars

WWTQ: What if the TVA (Time Variance Authority, for the non-Loki fans) gaslit the variants?

Answer: Things aren't always what they seem, the grass is always greener, yaddy yaddy...

I needed something easy and fun after the last few stressful weeks, so on Monday afternoon I logged off work a little early, made a cup of tea and, snuggly blanket in hand, DolphLundren the Kitten and I took to our favorite chair.

This is fun. Our FMC Gemma's long term plain pasta boyfriend has dumped her. She does a Gobot spell and is dumped into an alternative timeline where she never met him. But meeting and living miserably with Stuart has a lot of consequences and her new life is very different from the one she left behind. In particular, she never had her meetcute with her best friend Dax who is sad-eyes in love with her.

Dax is kind of pathetic in Gemma's home-dimension and really pathetic in her alterna-dimension but he wears henleys and button-down shirts so his sadsack personality can be forgiven, I guess.

I am knocking off a few stars because I do think the story missed its own point. Gemma is in a constant state of fear paralysis in her dimension. She's so afraid of failure that she chooses the safe options, like working for a corporation instead of starting her own business, or dating a hedgefund guy instead of the sneakerhead. She may be materialistic, but I don't fault her for liking nice things and working hard to afford them.

In her alternate dimension, she is less fearful and makes some risky decisions that net positive for her, so much so that she vows to be more open to risk. This fell apart for me because our narrator Gemma doesn't actually do anything risky. While we're with her, her alternate-selves are making the life-changing decisions and she's just along for the ride. Gemma doesn't earn her success. Her alternate-selves made the leap. Obviously, the career bit is a subplot, but I found that part of the book compelling - being dropped into an alternative timeline and learning your alternate-self is better at being you than you must be destabilizing and I'd like to have explored that more.

I loved Gemma's sister and wacky aunt. I now know more about curling than I, an American, have any right to know.

For a fast, fun read that is just silly enough to be heartwarming, I'd recommend it."
