"What a refreshing change! I gave this book 4 stars because it was above and beyond better than the past two books. It wouldn't have taken much, but still. I actually enjoyed a good chunk of it. <br/><br/>Waaaay less rape and torture in this one. That was nice.<br/>Waaaay less redundancy. Also nice.<br/>New places, new systems of government. <br/>New people, most got what they deserved.<br/>There were some funny moments, some teaching moments, and some cringe-worthy moments. <br/>I was actually intrigued by the inner struggle of the doomed Fitch, and the whole twisty turny Haken history bit was food for thought as well. <br/><br/>Now that I got that out of the way, WHAT THE HELL, RICHARD??? YOU CAN'T JUST WALK AWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR JOB! You can't rally Kingdoms and then just leave in the middle when one dumb brainwashed group votes "No". I think there was a line at the end "The world voted against me". Are you freaking kidding? You lost ONE VOTE. And, they ended up getting exactly what you said would happen if they didn't join up with you. Super disappointed in "Lord" Richard right now. Quitter.<br/><br/>And I'm not going to really go off on all of the dangly loose ends out there because I know there are like 27 more books, but still - too many loose ends and "Wait, what happened to...?" I REALLY don't want to have to go back through the other books to see if I just skimmed through an important part.<br/><br/><br/>"
