"When I saw that this book released, I immediately purchased it- I couldn’t wait to jump back into Sugar Island and see what Boulley had in store. I loved this story just as much as I loved A Firekeeper’s Daughter. Boulley is a fantastic storyteller who goes above and beyond to authentically immerse the reader in the cultural aspects of the story. There were some twists in this story that I didn’t anticipate which made me appreciate it even more. The story as a whole is less gruesome (in terms of what happens to Perry) than A Firekeeper’s Daughter, but Perry is also two years younger than Daunis was in the first novel which I feel like needs to be kept in mind when considering these novels as a pair. Our narrator should come off more child-like in my opinion which Boulley nailed. Given that I’ve mentioned A Firekeeper’s Daughter numerous times in this review, I feel the need to state that Warrior Girl Unearthed could absolutely be read as a stand alone novel. "
"So good and funny "
