In the fourth novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series featuring everyone's favorite wizard for hire, Harry Dresden is suckered into the tangled—and dangerous—affairs of Faerie...Ever since his girlfriend left town to deal with her newly acquired taste for blood, Harry Dresden has been down and out in Chicago. He can’t pay his rent. He’s alienating his friends. He can’t even recall the last time he took a shower. The only professional wizard in the phone book has become a desperate man. And just when it seems things can’t get any worse, in saunters the Winter Queen of Faerie. She has an offer Harry can’t refuse if he wants to free himself of the supernatural hold his faerie godmother has over him—and hopefully end his run of bad luck. All he has to do is find out who murdered the Summer Queen’s right-hand man, the Summer Knight, and clear the Winter Queen’s name. It seems simple enough, but Harry knows better than to get caught in the middle of faerie politics. Until he finds out that the fate of the entire world rests on his solving this case. No pressure or anything...

"It honestly gets a bit ungainly towards the end, it didn’t give me all the “aha” moments I loved from the previous books’ mysteries, and there is a character introduced and then absolutely wasted, considering how much drama could be milked out of her relationship with Harry, but at the end of the day it’s still got what I like about the Dresden Files.

Harry remains an engaging lead, the world building is interesting, there are a few laugh out loud moments, and since I listened to the audio book I got to hear James Marster’s pitch-perfect delivery."
"Ah, I just can't get enough of Harry. While he may act like a bumbling idiot quite a bit, he still has a good heart and just wants to do the right thing, even if everyone else doesn't want him to.

Harry is always in trouble, this time with the Council. If the vote doesn't work in his favor, he's dead. While this was an interesting plot, by the time we found out the who dun it stuff, I had forgotten all about this! Not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but it was definitely a 'How could I forget' moment.

Mr Butcher is really a great writer. He uses wit and sarcasm flawlessly that keeps me laughing while able to write the serious scenes that keep me trying not to cry. This book is definitely worth the read!"
"Harry Dresden, wizard is back with another mystery to solve but there is double the trouble. The White Council of Wizards are not pleased with Dresden following the events of the last book and is ordered to help Winter solve their own mystery. The Summer Knight has been murdered and the Winter Court of fairies wants Dresden to find out who did before the reign of Summer ends and the Winters reign in fairy begins. Harry has allies but many more enemies. Will he find the Summer Knight's killer and prevent the brewing war between Summer and Winter in time?

This book was way better than the previous books in the series! I think it is safe to say that I will now continue gladly with the series. Harry is definitely growing on me and I am getting more involved in the plot and variety of crazy characters. I recommend these books to lovers of urban fantasy or fantasy in general. Highly recommended!"
