"This book was very good. It was one of those books that makes you realize just how good you have it. It also exposed me to what is actually going on in the Phillipines. I had no idea what was going on there before I read this book. It made me realize how good I have it and to make every moment with my family while I still can."
"I am the tiniest bit disappointed.

But only a little! I loved this book, I love it so much I read it in a little under a week. I ate this book up like how I destroy anything chocolate favorited. I was sucked into this book and all of its joy and contemplation and grief.

My only issue was I feel like I’m missing something. Now of course, not every problem could have been solved, that’ll be nearly impossible for a single person to change, but I wonder why I feel like I’m missing a proper ending.

I’m missing an ending that makes me smile warmly and that reminds me that not everything has to be awful. Even but only a tiny victory. It’s not a feeling I particularly know how to formulate.

But the rest of this book was stunning. The characters, the themes, the history, each page is filled with complexity and raw emotions. Jay is such a wonderful main character with experiences so memorable and relatable. All he wants to do is help, and you watch as you learn he truly can’t help everyone; or even anyone. But he still tries.

It feels like a cupcake without sprinkles. But if you’ve never even heard of it. Missing something you don’t even know what but there’s still a possibility for it to be perfect."
"What an amazing story! The characters pulled me right into this thrilling and heartwrenching adventure! My heart ached in all the right places, and I'm so pleased with how this book gave such great Filipino representation! The characters each felt so real, and the author's settings were really realistic and shaping. My mind was whisked to another world (Well, the Phillipines, to be exact) and I was sucked along right into the plot. I felt as if I was really there experiencing everything the characters did.
The ending was really something. It was satisfying, to say the least. I loved how the story ended, even if it didn't end in the way that I was expecting. In all, I'm very pleased with this book and would reccommend it to absolutely any teen!"
