"I just gave up half way through. This trilogy started out very good and kept me interested but honestly nothings really happening at this point the story is dragging by. Probably could have been written in 2 books. It did have a little twist in book 2 that I enjoyed and made me start the next but I took a break and don't feel like there is a need to continue."
"This book definitely had a lot more political system in it which got to be a bit confusing at times, but still amazing. The twists towards the end were shocking! My jaw was again on the floor lol. It doesn’t feel right not to give all these books anything other than 5 stars. Can’t wait for the last book! Going to be sad to end this series, I love it so much!"
"My favorite character in this series is Cook and we get to know her so much more in this book. She is the embodiment of what trauma can do to a person and she is simultaneously strong and broken. I love this character and cried several times while her story unfolded in this book.<br/><br/>“Curse this world for what it does to the mothers—for what it does to the daughters. Curse it for making us strong through loss and pain. Our hearts torn from our chests again and again. Curse it for forcing us to endure.”"
"Yet another testament to Sabaa Tahir’s incredible talent for world building. The immersive, richly detailed setting pulls you in, making every moment feel visceral and real. The characters remain true to themselves, evolving in ways that feel both organic and deeply impactful. The stakes are higher than ever, and the story’s themes feel timely, hitting with an emotional weight that lingers long after the final page.<br/><br/>What truly sets this book apart is the complexity of its relationships. Every connection, whether forged through love, duty, or betrayal, adds depth to the narrative. Each victory feels hard-earned, and every loss cuts deep. The tension, the heartbreak, and the moments of hope all weave together into a breathtaking continuation of the series.<br/><br/>“Curse this world for what it does to the mothers, for what it does to the daughters. Curse it for making us strong through loss and pain, our hearts torn from our chests again and again. Curse it for forcing us to endure.”"
"I honestly don’t think I have the words to express how amazing of a book this is (third in its series), but I’ll try. The plot, I think, is the best plot of the books I’ve read. Sabaa Tahir really worked some wonders in this book. The building of everything: characters, aspirations, relationships, battle, identity... is just wonderful. Amazing book... One of the best I’ve read. #young_adult_fiction #battle #awesomebook 🙌🙌"
"<strong>So many feelings</strong><br/><br/>I was waiting for this book, preordered it and I'm glad I did so I didn't have to avoid everyone to avoid all the spoilers lol. <br/><br/>This one was even more intense and emotional than the other two books! It was a bit more darker and a lot of bog things happening.<br/><br/>A lot of major reveals with all the characters and the storyline as well.<br/><br/>There was one of the reveals in regards to Laia and her mother and what happened with her mother etc that was a little hard for me to read, stomach and process though. <br/><br/>Of course there was a lot that was hard to process - I'm going to go to sleep and hope to process some of this and out of the book hangover stage soonish.<br/><br/>I'm kind of hoping for some possibly more positive moments in the next book, but we'll see.<br/><br/>If you've read all the books except this one, you need to read it.<br/><br/>If you haven't checked this series out yet, go check it!"
