National Book Award Finalist * William C. Morris YA Debut Award Finalist * Goodreads Finalist for Best Teen Book of the Year * Walter Honor Award Winner * Pura Belpré Honor Book * Lambda Literary Award Winner for LGBTQ+ Young Adult A sharply funny and moving debut novel about a queer Mexican American girl navigating Catholic school, while falling in love and learning to celebrate her true self. Perfect for fans of Erika L. Sánchez, Leah Johnson, and Gabby Rivera. Sixteen-year-old Yamilet Flores prefers to be known for her killer eyeliner, not for being one of the only Mexican kids at her new, mostly white, very rich Catholic school. But at least here no one knows she's gay, and Yami intends to keep it that way. After being outed by her crush and ex-best friend before transferring to Slayton Catholic, Yami has new priorities: keep her brother out of trouble, make her mom proud, and, most importantly, don't fall in love. Granted, she's never been great at any of those things, but that's a problem for Future Yami. The thing is, it's hard to fake being straight when Bo, the only openly queer girl at school, is so annoyingly perfect. And smart. And talented. And cute. So cute. Either way, Yami isn't going to make the same mistake again. If word got back to her mom, she could face a lot worse than rejection. So she'll have to start asking, WWSGD: What would a straight girl do? Told in a captivating voice that is by turns hilarious, vulnerable, and searingly honest, The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School explores the joys and heartaches of living your full truth out loud.

"THIS was what I was looking for with Felix Ever After—well-written, with likable characters whose less-flattering decisions are motivated by self-preservation. Essentially this book is a POC lesbian version of Openly Straight, with higher stakes and greater diversity. Given that I love Openly Straight (even with its flaws), it’s no surprise I also loved this book, which is head and shoulders above most YA. I appreciated that the characters pick and choose their battles, and oftentimes they lose."
"So cute and heartfelt! Love the Latinx representation."

"I usually don’t cry to books, but this absolutely destroyed me in the best way possible. I’m a sucker for family acceptance/apology, and this book offered just that!! It is a heavier read because it deals with things like homophobia, racism, and thoughts of suicide, so if that’s not something you are in the place to handle, this book is not for you. But the book has a wonderful sense of humor, and the romance in it is literally to die for. Not to mention the amazing sapphic and bisexual rep. I’m white, so I can’t speak on the quality of the POC rep, but I’ll mention it here anyway. Would highly recommend!!!"
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ omggg this book. I loved everything about this book. The mature topics of racism, homophobia, religion melancholy and guilt were done beautifully as well as the how Mexican culture was portrayed and described. I loved the lesbian and bi rep in this book. I was very moved by how the story flowed with the different plot points and the character development. I couldn’t put this book down! Highly recommend 😄"
"It's a shame this is a banned book, and I can see why it was considered one in the first place. Although, this was an amazing book to read. The most important books are the ones that are challenged. This book speaks levels for the young adults that feel alone being LGBTQ+, and it is difficult to be in this community when you live in a place where most don't accept you for something that is completely normal. Every day, the topics of LGBTQ+ is being challenged, and while it is more acceptable in some places, it is not in most; and it is extremely difficult for those that are in strictly religious places as well as being someone of a different ethnic background. This book normalizes the lives of LGBTQ+ teenagers. It's hard to want to be yourself in a world that is mainly against you. This book can really help those be seen. It showered the importance of keeping a cultural tradition alive while being part of the LGBTQ+, because culture and religion should be accepting of all people. This was a 10/10. More should read this to bring light to this banned book because I know many who will feel seen after reading this."
