This disappearance is just the latest in a string of unfortunate events that have plagued the controversial expedition, and rumors abound that the curse of the vengeful princess has been unleashed as the shadowy figure of Anubis himself stalks the streets of London. "I loved the fast-paced plot, especially the Egyptian excavation elements, which reminded me of "What the River Knows." The story did a great job fleshing out the characters, especially our two leads, Veronica and Stoker.
Veronica is sharp, strong, and unafraid to get her hands dirty, while Stoker is upstanding despite his temper. I love how he respects Veronica’s intelligence, and I'm really hoping they get together. Meeting the woman who broke Stoker’s heart was satisfying, and she was just as awful as expected.
The historical, British writing style is enjoyable, and Veronica’s witty, distinct voice makes her a standout protagonist. Even though the story is set in England, the mysterious atmosphere feels expansive."
