"2.5/5⭐️? It took 2 months & 4 tries to finish this book. I was unbelievably bored the first half of it but kept trying because everyone had good things to say. So the first 1/2 was boring but the second 1/2 was really good. Rhodes was such a good man & made me tear up a few times. I’m 50/50 about this book because it took so long to get interesting but was so good when it finally did. "
"Weewoo!! Yoopers, I have came out of my reading-slump-cave-hole 😄 This has been a nice, comforting story. The endings were great, and it had me sobbing. However, this is an incredibly slow-burn story. There are a lot of monologues and scenes that I skimmed as it got a bit redundant and tedious. This grumpy-sunshine plot felt my heart with warmth nonetheless :)"
"Enjoyed this, but was also reminded why I prefer dual pov books. There was too much that was lost in emotional upheaval by only seeing her side. That said, it was pretty good. I liked her outlook on life and how resilient she is. Plus, she doesn't shy away from having bad and sad days. Kudos as that is hard. We all want to think there are only good days. "
"THIS BOOK!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Slow burn, small town romance. Based in CO. Refreshing that the characters are 33/early 40s since most books I’m finding are hs/college age characters. This story is about losing basically everything to gain everything and more. Finding herself and true love and family. "
"2.75 stars. I am so torn with this review. While I couldn’t seem to put this down, there were just too many cons that I couldn’t stand. 1. Why did she talk like she was a teenager and not 33?! She had so many moments of immaturity and cringeness. 2. The nicknames she gave people and that Rhodes gave her - “buddy” drove me nuts. And the placement of the nicknames was just awkward “And now that I do know you Buddy, I don’t think she left intentionally”. 3. Her constant “thank you’s” was overkill 4. The way Rhodes & Am found out who her ex was and how upset they were over it was just ridiculous. Like why are they so upset?! BUT, I’m confused because despite all that I still couldn’t put it down and it did have a lot of cute moments. Any other book I would have DNF’ed. This is my first MZ book so holding out hope for Wall of Winnipeg."
