Featuring gorgeous gold color sprayed edges! Somewhere Beyond the Sea is the hugely-anticipated sequel to TJ Klune's TheHouse in the Cerulean Sea, one of the best-loved and best-selling fantasy novels of the past decade. A magical house. A secret past. A summons that could change everything. Arthur Parnassus lives a good life built on the ashes of a bad one. He’s the master of a strange orphanage on a distant and peculiar island, and he hopes to soon be the adoptive father to the six dangerous and magical children who live there. Arthur works hard and loves with his whole heart so none of the children ever feel the neglect and pain that he once felt as an orphan on that very same island so long ago. He is not alone: joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker, a former caseworker in the Department In Charge of Magical Youth. And there's the island's sprite, Zoe Chapelwhite, and her girlfriend, Mayor Helen Webb. Together, they will do anything to protect the children. But when Arthur is summoned to make a public statement about his dark past, he finds himself at the helm of a fight for the future that his family, and all magical people, deserve. And when a new magical child hopes to join them on their island home—one who finds power in calling himself monster, a name that Arthur worked so hard to protect his children from—Arthur knows they’re at a breaking point: their family will either grow stronger than ever or fall apart. Welcome back to Marsyas Island. This is Arthur’s story. Somewhere Beyond the Sea is a story of resistance, lovingly told, about the daunting experience of fighting for the life you want to live and doing the work to keep it.

"I loved this book sooo much! It took a few chapters for me to really get into it, but once I did I could hardly put it down! It was pretty long and the plot wasn't particularly fast paced, but it was amazing and quite humorous! It was so great diving back into this world and getting to know these amazing, complex, lovable characters better! Arthur and Linus are so amazing together, and I loved getting to see Arthur use his powers! David was a fun addition to this book, and ended up being a really great character! I adored all of the kids, though I'd have to say that Lucy is still my favorite! I also loved getting to see Sal come out of his shell and grow into himself, becoming the unofficial leader of the seven kids. This book has an amazing found family, a wonderful and cozy island setting, and the writing is beautiful! There are definitely some heavier themes explored, so maybe check the trigger warnings. If you enjoyed The House in the Cerulean Sea then this book is a must read!"
"This was amazing and wonderful and a warm hug and everything I’ve come to learn is TJ Klune’s writing. To see these characters grow, and learn more background as to why they are how they are. I, as always, love how much love is pouring out of Lucy, and how fiercely this little tight knit family fights not only for what they believe in for each other but for everyone else like and unalike. Deeply touching! Best sequel yet!!! "
"Somewhere Beyond the Sea by T. J. Klune 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was an approved NetGalley Arc of the first four chapters.
This second book kicks back off sometime close to where book one ended. It's so good being with this family again and learning some new things that have happened and what the future for this family could bring. I can't wait for the whole book, it's gonna be another banger!"
"Arthur Parnassus and Linus Baker return along with the wonderful children of Marsyas Island.
This time, Arthur is called to a hearing. He is brought to stand in front of Dicomy counsel and questioned about the running of the Orphanage and the special children viewed as monsters. The counsel is questioning the safety of the humans as well as the potential need to close the orphanage.
Just as Arthur and Linus have decided to adopt the children, Dicomy sends Miss Marblemaw to stay at the orphanage and report all the happenings and any wrong doings of concern to the counsel.
A new member joins the children as well. Together, they go about the town, and we tag along as they connect and demonstrate their special abilities and developments. Zoe (the island Sprite) steps in with the towns folk to defend the children from Dicomy and their relentless plot to divide this wonderful family and their greatest goal: to take Lucy. Heartwarming, whimsical, and such a delight to read.
all my favorite characters! big fan! loved."
"While the book has all the humor and ingenuity of its predecessor, this one fell short of what I have come to expect from the author. I found Linus to be overbearing in this one in a way that felt inconsistent with his character development in the first installment. And for all the foreshadowing and build-up, the plot was a bit slow-paced and nearly missed arriving at its own grand conclusion. But the exploration of characters is still beautiful and the ending is a spectacular showcase of magic in an unexpected way. I just wish it didn’t feel so much like this book was always setting up for a third installment rather than being something that could stand solidly on its own. "

"This book helps me have hope for the land me and my fellow unique beings inhabit. Zoe Chapelwhite is beyond a goddess and will forever be one of my favorite characters ever. I found myself saying ‘Oh Dear’ more times than Linus while reading about the stork-esk antagonists. All in all, I loved it. Not as great as House in the Cerulean Sea but one must keep in mind, the bases of each are different. Different topics, same message. Thank you Parnassus. Thank you Baker. Thank you children. Thank you people of Marsyas. Thank you creator of this fantastical wonder. #hopewithinpages"
