Fans around the world adore the bestselling No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series and its proprietor, Precious Ramotswe, Botswana’s premier lady detective. In this charming series, Mma Ramotswe—with help from her loyal associate, Grace Makutsi—navigates her cases and her personal life with wisdom, good humor, and the occasional cup of tea.Precious is busier than usual at the detective agency when she discovers an intruder in her house on Zebra Drive—and perhaps even more baffling—a pumpkin on her porch. Her associate, Mma Makutsi, also has a full plate. She's taken up dance lessons, only to be partnered with a man with two left feet. And at Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors, where Mr J.L.B. Matekoni is already overburdened with work, one of his apprentices has run off with a wealthy older woman. But what finally rattles Mma Ramotswe’s normally unshakable composure is a visitor who forces her to confront a difficult secret from her past.

"I've read many of the books in this series over the years and basically enjoy them, although I was able to put the series down for some time without really missing it. This volume I listened to as an audiobook. The narrator was quite good, but I had problems maintaining my attention. The novels are much more atmosphere than plot--which works better, I think, in a read version than a listened version. It was hard for me to remember where I'd left off when I picked up the story again, and several times it would come back to storylines that I had completely forgotten about because days had passed between listening sessions. It comes down to the fact that while I really like the characters and like the feel of the stories, they're very meandering tales and have problems grabbing me and making me want to have the patience to stick with it to see how it turns out. I'll probably keep reading the series in the future, but will most likely not choose to do the audioversion again. I did see a couple of episodes of the televised version awhile back and really enjoyed the way the actresses captured the two main characters--I wish the series had continued!"
