Becky Albertalli
From #1 New York Times bestselling author and rom-com queen Becky Albertalli comes a buoyant new novel about daring to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight in love, life, and, yes, theater. Contrary to popular belief, best friends Kate Garfield and Anderson Walker are not codependent. Carpooling to and from theater rehearsals? Environmentally sound and efficient. Consulting each other on every single life decision? Basic good judgment. Pining for the same guys from afar? Shared crushes are more fun anyway. But when Kate and Andy’s latest long-distance crush shows up at their school, everything goes off-script. Matt Olsson is talented and sweet, and Kate likes him. She really likes him. The only problem? So does Anderson. Turns out, communal crushes aren’t so fun when real feelings are involved. This one might even bring the curtains down on Kate and Anderson’s friendship.

"This book is so, so relatable. A hilarious and chaotic duo who share so many deep emotions—this story was so heartwarming. It really tests the strains and hardships of a relationship, romantic AND platonic. I love the modern twists within this story, as well as the laughable and sob-worthy moments. I really connected with these characters, they’re so realistic to life! Romance can be a beautiful thing, but is it really worth it if other relationships are put at risk? 10/10 highly recommend! ❤️"
"3.5/5, but rounded up because Becky!<br/>This overall was a very cute book & I’m so glad I read it / can add it to the rest of my Becky collection. <br/>I did love the characters & the overall plot, I just think a lot of it was repetitive or felt rushed (especially aspects of the end)<br/>I also felt that a lot of it was primarily dialogue, which for a script that’s fine (not sure if that was the intention), but for a novel? It left me wondering what was happening a lot at times.<br/>And I never want to hear any version of ******* that much again."
"Kate In Waiting...<br/><br/>I did enjoy this book quite a bit, however it was very predictable. Once the tension between Kate, her best, and the love interest I already knew who was going to end up with who. That is kind of what brings it down to an average 3. I did enjoy the musical plot and that was one of the main reasons I picked it up because it was at the height of my musical theater phase."
"Amazing!"
