"This book is so wonderfully frustrating, and I mean that in the kindest way possible. Politano weaves tension so deeply into this story and its characters that my eyes remained glued to the pages for hours. Nothing could take my focus away from the words she so eloquently wrote. The characters contained so much depth, and the mystery was impossible for me to unfold myself. The end was incredibly satisfying and I know I will sleep peacefully tonight since finishing the novel. Politano discusses the harsh realities of parental abandonment, grief, and isolation. I could personally relate to Aurelie’s feeling of “otherworldliness” and rejection. But Politano is sure to leave a message of hope for the outcasts of the world: you may not feel like you belong to this world, but you do belong to the Father. You belong in His kingdom. Politano also depicts a beautiful godly relationship that I hope I will one day get to experience. Her prose never fails to pluck at my heartstrings, and I am always left in speechless wonder by the end of each book.
“Back and forth, as if we were slowly joining into one unit, we spoke to God in words that swirled easily between us and rose to heaven.
And my heart was full to overflowing with unnamable thoughts.” -Lady Jayne Disappears"
