Pittacus Lore
In Pittacus Lore’s The Rise of Nine, third in the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series, the stakes are higher than ever as John, Six, and Seven try desperately to find the rest of the Garde before it’s too late. The Mogadorians who destroyed the planet Lorien continue to hunt down the Garde, the small group of Loric survivors who have taken refuge on Earth. The Garde must come together. They are Lorien and Earth’s only hope. During the dangerous mission at the Mogadorian base in West Virginia, John found and rescued Nine. But even with their combined powers, special abilities known as Legacies, the pair barely escaped with their lives—and they lost Sam in the process. In order to save our world and their own, John and Nine must join forces with Six and Seven who have been battling the Mogadorians in Spain, and who are now trying to locate Number Eight in India. Power in numbers will save us all.

"Least favorite book in the series so far, mainly because of the notable absence of a certain character (won't give more details, don't want to give any spoilers). I did, however, love the easy dynamic between characters and how they bonded over their shared trials and tragedies. Enough tension to feel believable, but easy enough alliances ensure words need not be wasted on pointless squabbles. Eager to start reading the next book! "
"The Rise of Nine is packed with action. In the third book in the Lorien Legacies series, things start to come together. The characters begin to develop their powers more and the plot branches out, taking some unpredicted twists. The end of the book is very interesting, where the three different points of view meet up as Numbers 4,6,7,8,9, and 10 meet up to battle the biggest enemy. The end leaves you wanting to jump right into the next book."

"I LOVE this book. It has a lot more fighting scenes and was just genially better than the first two."

"I have read the entire I am number four series. I have even read the spin-off trilogy and the lost files....the rise of nine is still my favorite book of all the series. I love Nine and his whole personality..he's the funnest character in the series."

"This builds on the story from the prior two books, but the end feels very incomplete, without even a cliffhanger. You can tell that the original author has moved on from the project, to be replaced by someone who padded the book with lots of pointless fight scenes and powers that sound fantastical, but don't actually add anything to what was a decent story. I'll read whatever comes next (if there is one!) just to finish out the series, but I'm not expecting much. (This is what I get from reading YA in leisure time.)"
