FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE HARRY BOSCH AND LINCOLN LAWYER SERIESAn electrifying standalone thriller that breaks all the rules! With an introduction by Stephen King. Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write--and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

"I read this years ago and I remembered how good this book was. Going into this I had forgotten a lot of the details and even the twists and turns it took so it felt like I was reading it for the first time all over again with some sense of deja vu. But I loved it. Even though it is depressing, I loved this. I loved how Jack wanted answers for his brother, how he never gave up to get justice for his brother despite not actually being a cop or a fed. Definitely worth the read (or reread). I love this author and how his books never seem to be filled with fluff to make a book."
"All time favorite because this is the book that made me fall in love with reading. I just happened to read it on a whim and got hooked. I couldn't put it down! Eventually read every single Michael Connelly book out there. Great stories for crime novel junkies! The Harry Bosch series is awesome too!"
