“Spellbinding.” —Stephanie Garber, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Caraval series “A delectably immersive, eerie experience.” —Kirkus Reviews From New York Times bestselling author of The Wicked Deep comes a haunting romance perfect for fans of Practical Magic, where dark fairy tales and enchanted folklore collide after a boy, believed to be missing, emerges from the magical woods—and falls in love with the witch determined to unravel his secrets.Be careful of the dark, dark wood… Especially the woods surrounding the town of Fir Haven. Some say these woods are magical. Haunted, even. Rumored to be a witch, only Nora Walker knows the truth. She and the Walker women before her have always shared a special connection with the woods. And it’s this special connection that leads Nora to Oliver Huntsman—the same boy who disappeared from the Camp for Wayward Boys weeks ago—and in the middle of the worst snowstorm in years. He should be dead, but here he is alive, and left in the woods with no memory of the time he’d been missing. Nora can feel an uneasy shift in the woods at Oliver’s presence. And it’s not too long after that Nora realizes she has no choice but to unearth the truth behind how the boy she has come to care so deeply about survived his time in the forest, and what led him there in the first place. What Nora doesn’t know, though, is that Oliver has secrets of his own—secrets he’ll do anything to keep buried, because as it turns out, he wasn’t the only one to have gone missing on that fateful night all those weeks ago. For as long as there have been fairy tales, we have been warned to fear what lies within the dark, dark woods and in Winterwood, New York Times bestselling author Shea Ernshaw shows us why.

"I will leave spoilers at the end. This book had the most perfect winter atmosphere. Starting off in the cold dark woods cut off from civilization. I enjoyed the lure and magic of this writing. It started off very well with death, intrigue, and the haunted forest. A little over half way the story became predictable unfortunately. I already had foreseen the end and the writing dragged the supposed secret out for a many of chapters. All that followed was too perfect, like I'v said too many times, predictably YA.

Spoilers Ahead......

The bone moth followed the main protagonist Nora around but mostly in front of her which gave away the big clue that she was not to die. After many chapters no one sees or notices Oliver which easily brings me to the conclusion he is already dead. And knowing this near the end made it drag on forever. I could have gotten over that because I'm too observant at times. I cannot however get over how everything is so perfect and falls into place. She so happens to have a power that turns back time saving us from everything in the book that automatically didn't happen to anyone except Nora and the reader I guess. So she has a perfect relationship the forest is back in tact everyone wins. Not for me I don't necessarily have to loose characters but I don't really care for them if I know without a doubt they can't die or be utterly ruined. When something bad happens it should stay that way it's not fair to me or realistic when everyone gets everything they want and it happens so often in young adult books. If people die they should stay dead, loss is a part or life and makes is hold things more dear. It makes me love characters more deeply if I can be afraid for them."
