Grady Hendrix
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires comes a hilarious and terrifying haunted house story in a thoroughly contemporary setting: a furniture superstore.Something strange is happening at the Orsk furniture superstore in Cleveland, Ohio. Every morning, employees arrive to find broken Kjerring bookshelves, shattered Glans water goblets, and smashed Liripip wardrobes. Sales are down, security cameras reveal nothing, and store managers are panicking. To unravel the mystery, three employees volunteer to work a nine-hour dusk-till-dawn shift. In the dead of the night, they’ll patrol the empty showroom floor, investigate strange sights and sounds, and encounter horrors that defy the imagination.

"Great book - funny, good criticism of retail work, and great characters. You really care about everyone, and while the book is pretty predictable, it's a super fun and quick read.
TWs: death, torture, capitalism
SPOILER: I am upset at what they did to Ruth-Anne. It literally made me cry. Only thing I'd change about the book :("
"I admit, I was hesitant after 100 pages. I didn't know if I was going to fall in line with all of the bubbling reviews of Grady Hendrix books that I have seen. I just wasn't gripped, and after 100 pages of a 220 page book, I was more then a little skeptical. But once it got good it GOT GOOD. I was thrown into a horrific and stunningly creative horror book that left my eyes wide open and brain alight with exactly what you want from a horror book, fear.
Hendrix delivered for sure, I was totally hooked and at his mercy. The "Beehive" is just so creative. The pictures between each chapter are just so creative. This book is just brimming with creativity. My hat is off to you Hendrix."
"A book one should definitely read rather than listen to (if possible). The overall graphic design of the pages adds to the quirkiness of the book, and makes it far more palatable than it is without. Without the graphics, I don't know if I would have enjoyed this book as much. I neither liked it nor disliked it. Instead, I saw it as a nice book to breeze through while I was in between more substantial titles. "
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (the vibes) this was such an interesting read! I enjoyed the humor in the first 1/3 of the book and I really liked the characters. I felt that the author was very descriptive in their writing and if this was a movie I don’t think I’d watch it since it’s gross and too graphic for me personally. I felt anxious and frustrated through the scenes and couldn’t put the book down! I actually enjoyed the ending personally and if he decides to write a second book I’d read it. There is a decent amount of body horror. (I’m new to horror books so it was the most for me so far). I would love to read the physical book for the full experience! I couldn’t rave more about this book (:
If I were to rate the book critically, I would give it a 3/5 "
