"I did like this book and it's potential but it is definitely Hodge's first published book. Character personalities seem to change page to page and the plot seems to lack direction at times. She tells us things more than she shows them and this happens a distracting amount in the romance. Overall though I did like this book. "
"I'm struggling rating this. I related with the characters and loved them very much. The story had a unique take even being a retelling. But it was a little predictable I knew instantly where Shadow came from. I did enjoy the development of the characters though and I loved to hate Nyx's family. The narrator of the audiobook Elizabeth Knowelden did a fantastic job although the last 3 hours of the story dragged on. There was just something missing but I can't really think what. Just really wanted to love this book."
"Even though its been years since I've read it (and I do plan on rereading it) I remember LOVING THIS. I still love it more than ACOTAR and to those who personally know me, that's saying something. I even brought up some of the archetypes I loved the most in this book in my creative writing workshop course at my university today and my professor even seemed to be quite happy I brought it up. I can't wait to have the time to reread it!"
"It’s very good and there’s another one by the same author called Crimson Bound!"

"★★★★½ -- Gorgeously written, dangerously dark, and cleverly crafted. Just what I was looking for."
