A riveting thriller about the search for two missing girls in a small Pennsylvania town.“Opening this book is like arming a bomb—the suspense is relentless and the payoff is spectacular.” —Lee Child, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Midnight LineWhen two young sisters, Kylie and Bailey Brandt, disappear from a strip mall parking lot in a small Pennsylvania town, their devastated family hires an enigmatic bounty hunter from California, Alice Vega, to do what the authorities cannot. Immediately shut out by a local police department already stretched thin by budget cuts and the growing OxyContin and meth epidemics, Vega enlists the help of a disgraced former cop, Max Caplan, to cut through the local politics. With little to go on, Vega and Cap will go to extraordinary lengths to untangle a complex web of lies, false leads, and dangerous relationships to locate both girls before time runs out and the girls are gone forever.

"This was an enjoyable thriller! The pacing, characters, and story in general were pretty good. It's a procedural without police, and I usually like those types of books because it leaves room for unlikely heroes to develop.

My only complaint is that I think it could have gone a bit deeper - deeper into the main characters' backgrounds, into the villains' backgrounds, into what was going on with the missing girls.

The storyline is dark, but it is not graphic. That can be a difficult line to balance, so I applaud Luna for being able to do that. I feel like the ending was open enough for this to possibly be a series with the main characters, and I will definitely continue on if more are published.

Thank you to Doubleday & Louisa Luna for my advanced reader copy!"
"Couldn’t put this book down. Alice Vega is everything I wanted Stephanie Plum to be - badass, a little dark, and not at all an airhead. Can’t wait to read more of Louisa Luna’s books. "
