"<strong>A emotional Rollercoaster </strong><br/><br/>That being said I loved it! This is probably not what you immediately think of when you think about a romance book but that's part of the reason it's so good, another being how realistically everything is written(the trauma, shame, and love). This is a enthralling story of love, shame, sadness, guilt, and character growth."
"Seems to me this is one of those stories you either hate or love. Honestly, Still Beating is one of the first stories I've read with such extensive trigger warnings. But I enjoyed it. I thought the aftermath was quite interesting as well. In the media, you hear about the kidnapping and sometimes the release, but rarely do you get front row seats to how the victims cope afterward.
This wasn't just a love story. It was messy and uncomfortable. Still, that is how it's supposed to be. Dean was Cora's rock, but even he broke at times. Luckily, most of the uncomfortable parts were glossed over. The one thing I didn't care for was how Cora's sister was remarked upon in the beginning, like she just wasn't as great or as responsible as Cora. It felt like a setup for things to be smoother between Cora and Dean instead of a natural remark on her character."
"This book will rip your heart to pieces and put it back together again. Some thriller and some triggers from rape, miscarriage, abuse, self harm and mental hurdles due to ptsd. The plot twist crushed me for a min but the ending was perfection! Romance thriller definitely worth the read and tissues lol"
"This is one of those books I’ve put off reading because of the popularity of it online. More times than not, I end up not liking those hyped up books. I’m pleased to say that this book deserves all the hype!! It was so GOOD!<br/><br/>Jennifer Hartmann is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors this year. I have now read two of her books and absolutely LOVED both of them. (June First was the other one) I want to devour her backlist immediately!<br/><br/>Dean and Cora’s story is heartbreaking and beautiful! This author has a magical way with her words and is a magician when it comes to making the reader feel ALL the emotions! What a phenomenal book! <br/><br/>I can’t wait to read another title from her. I just don’t know which one should be next?"
