Second Grave on the LeftDarynda Jones If you hang around with dead people, life can deliver a whole world of trouble.Take it from Charley Davidson, part-time P.I. and full-time Grim Reaper. The deceased find her very sparkly. Demons find her irresistible. And one entity in particular wants to seduce her in every way possible...When Charley and Cookie, her best friend slash receptionist, have to track down a missing woman, the case is not quite as open and shut as they anticipate. Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally.) has left his corporeal body because he's being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can't let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they'll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven...well, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Can she keep those she loves out of harm's way? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel her as she does?

"I really loved getting back into the world of Charley. She's just as funny as the previous book and has a lot more fun... Ok not really she actually gets hurt more in this book, nut it is still all great. I love that she is finding powers that she didn't know about before and that she is finding out so much more about Reyes. We also get to see more of Cookie and her awesomeness this book and it really seems like Cookie is the true PI with Charley being the public face. Over all this is a great book and that it isn't always who you think it is that dun done it."
"When I finished the first book, I picked up my keys, ran out of the house and went to the nearest bookstore to pick this up. And it was well worth ditching all my responsibilities to get my hands on it. This is every bit as great as the first. And the best part? More Reyes!

This series embodies everything I love about the paranormal genre. Romance, mystery, great writing, humor, all blended together for the right balance. Second Grave on the Left was just as delightful as to be expected. I was engulfed in the story straight away and the world fell away as I joined Charley in her rush to try and save Cookie's friend's life.

I love Uncle Bob. Almost as much as Charley and Reyes. But I think he really helps bring this series to great heights. His love for his niece is unconditional. He does things that anger Charley, but his sole reason for anything is to make sure she lives to see another day. He knows she's special. And not just because she can help him become one of the best detectives on the squad. I was rolling with some of the parts with him and Swopes. This series really does have some great characters.

One of the things I like, so far, is that Ms. Jones isn't stalling on this plot line. She's letting unfold at a natural pace and not prolonging it just to sell more books. It unfolds and unfolds fast. Things are already set in motion that by the time I finished this, I was already picking up the third book by the time I finished the last page.

This is a must read series. It has been a long time since I have been blown away by a series like this. Hook, line and sinker. Gotta get me some more Reaper."
