"This was one of my least favorite Will Trent books, but still a solid 4 star read . I love the Will and Sara characters but the topic was heavily degenerate behavior, which got to be a little overwhelming. Before you start one of her books I suggest you review trigger warnings. "

"This book takes it all back to the beginning and making of the character Sarah Linton. If you read both series you know Sarah was raped at Grady hospital during her residency. The rapist was caught and has remained in jail. It let Sarah unable to have children.
This book focuses on that and the students in her class. There was a total of 5 or 6 that hung out together but Sarah has since lost contact with after her assault.
Fast forward to present day Sarah is working the er when a girl is rushed in from a wreck and tells Sarah before she dies that she was raped and stabbed in the same spot Sarah was. Sarah knows it’s connected somehow. (Turns out it wasn’t per se but did open a can of worms.) The car the victim is driving is registered to the son of someone that was in Sarah’s class. Sarah testifies at the tape hearing against Tommy the son. His parents Brit and Mac both of who Sarah knew and went to school with pay off the victims family’s or threaten to release photos of the girl.
Fast forward to the end. All the students were in the crime ring of raping women and started bringing their sons into. Brit didn’t want their son involved but he was vile too. He had abducted the victim Sarah helped on his own and accidentally used too much of the drug. Called his parents and Brit helped but also beat her until she thought she was dead but she wasn’t and drove to the hospital Sarah confronts her at the end and she says how the rape ring works and that Sarah wasn’t their victim but she knew Sarah beat her husband in the residency and couldn’t let that happen so manipulated the obsessed janitor to rape her. Brit killed herself at the end. Sarah told her how to use the gun and she knows people suspect it. But it won’t be looked into."
"Karin Slaughter has done it again!

I will always and forever devour absolutely anything Karin publishes. Nothing excites me more than a continuation of the Will Trent series. Will, Sara and Faith are at it again to uncover how a recent court case could relate to the terrible tragedy that changed Sara's life so many years ago.

If you like detectives uncovering dark and disturbing crimes, well developed characters with quick wits, then this entire series is for you. Do yourself a favor and start from the beginning.

<spoiler??> My one and only negative thing to say is damn.. how many more people in Sara Linton's life, past or present are absolutely awful, terrible people that she has not discovered yet. At this rate I'm questioning what we don't know yet about her sister, her mother and father, anyone's name she has ever mentioned. <spoiler??>"
"I was very pleased to see that finally we had a new book in the Will Trent series. I enjoyed it, and yet I found it a bit predictable. It might be because I am a die hard Karen Slaughter fan. And yes this series has been my all time favorite of all her books. Not to say I won't pick up any other book she writes because I most certainly will. With out giving away any spoilers; after reading the first couple of chapters and most of the important characters were introduced I managed to figure out who was the mastermind behind the horrific crimes pretty quickly. And yes i was correct. Now of course I didnt know exactly how it would play out but it in typical Karin Slaughter fashion she keeps you on your toes. Again it might be because I am so used to how Karin Slaughter writes and now can anticipate her next move in her stories. But in any case I enjoyed this book and am sure there will be a new one to come. If you haven't already read the Will Trent series I highly recommend that you do. "
"Amazing! Waiting for Sara and Will’s wedding in the next one. If you have not read Criminal by her , you need to. She introduced Will’s aunt and uncle in that one. I also read in that how Will saw her Polaroid in her case file. In this book it is said he never saw her picture. I really liked this one. Amanda is very interested in Will’s wedding. I was tickled with all her conversations regarding the same. "
