"I cannot remember the last book I loved as much... a luminous, heart-achingly beautiful love letter to friendship. Knockout!" -- Josie Silver, New York Times bestselling author International bestseller Mhairi McFarlane explores lifelong friendships, long-buried secrets, and unexpected love in a heartfelt, emotional new novel, perfect for fans of Evvie Drake Starts Over, The Two Lives of Lydia Bird, or In Five Years. Eve, Justin, Susie, and Ed have been friends since they were teenagers. Now in their thirties, the four are as close as ever, Thursday night bar trivia is sacred, and Eve is still secretly in love with Ed. Maybe she should have moved on by now, but she can't stop thinking about what could have been. And she knows Ed still thinks about it, too. But then, in an instant, their lives are changed forever. In the aftermath, Eve's world is upended. As stunning secrets are revealed, she begins to wonder if she really knew her friends as well as she thought. And when someone from the past comes back into her life, Eve's future veers in a surprising new direction... They say every love story starts with a single moment. What if it was just last night? "[A] book I almost wish I'd written, except that would have robbed me of the intense joy of reading it... the kind of novel that will have you putting everything else on hold so you can keep turning pages until you reach its sparkling, brilliant end." -- Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author of People We Meet on Vacation

"I really enjoyed this book. I don't typically care for romance novels, but after reading another book by this author, I decided to give it a shot. It was a pleasant (for lack of a better word) surprise that the book turned out to be more about grief than romance. I would definitely recommend this book to someone who likes a little bit of romance but gets overwhelmed with the genre sometimes."
"I don’t like things with death in them. "

"Excellent book, but not at all what I expected! Every description I read was way off base. This is not a comedy, and very little romance. Instead, it is a stunningly accurate look at grief, and the way it affects all aspects of your life."

"4 Stars
Cover 3 Stars

WWTQ: Would you visit Edinburgh?
Answer: A thousand times, yes. I love Scotland.

This is the story of a woman who thinks she's in love with her manipulative jerk of a friend and is probably in love with her other horrible slag of a friend. The only member of this foursome who isn't awful is Justin. Justin is perfection.

The book explores grief when you learn that the person who died really wasn't who you thought she was, that she was inherently flawed and somewhat of a c-word. It's a complex and emotionally roiling discovery. I did like that it wasn't her dead parents, but a dead friend. I didn't really care for the big reveal at the end: the not-the-man-i-thought-you-were things with a parent.

My favorite part was when Eve and Finn were running around Edinburgh. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd like it as much if they were running around some other northern UK city, like Liverpool."
"Just finished reading this- took me five days to finish it because I would not put the book down, I won’t lie this story is absolutely drama filled and can be a bit ridiculous but it really works out for the end. Lovely story and had me hooked from the first chapter. 100% recommend if you want a slow burn enemies to lovers ❤️"
"Honestly not that great. Had a lot of potential and was heartbreakingly beautiful at the beginning but didn’t have much plot after that. Felt like it was slowly building up to a disappointing ending. "
