Featuring beautiful spray-painted edges with vibrant designed endpapers. She’s rewriting his love story. But can she rewrite her own?Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies—good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates—The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!—it’s a break too big to pass up.Emma’s younger sister steps in for caretaking duties, and Emma moves to L.A. for six weeks for the writing gig of a lifetime. But what is it they say? Don’t meet your heroes? Charlie Yates doesn’t want to write with anyone—much less “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Worse, the romantic comedy he’s written is so terrible it might actually bring on the apocalypse. Plus! He doesn’t even care about the script—it’s just a means to get a different one green-lit. Oh, and he thinks love is an emotional Ponzi scheme. But Emma’s not going down without a fight. She will stand up for herself, and for rom-coms, and for love itself. She will convince him that love stories matter—even if she has to kiss him senseless to do it. But . . . what if that kiss is accidentally amazing? What if real life turns out to be so much . . . more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules—and comes true?

"I didn't like this quite as much as The Bodyguard, the only other Katherine Center book I've read, but it was still a fun, quick read. I liked Emma well enough, and I appreciated her personality and thought her tragic backstory was well written, but her obsession with Charlie was a bit much. I mean, the amount of times she says/thinks his full name is beyond ridiculous. Charlie himself took a long while to grow on me. He was mean and selfish for a large chunk of the book, and he genuinely irritated me. If I were Emma, I never would have stuck around in those first few days. He did redeem himself later on, but it took quite a while to happen. Forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine, and slow burn. Despite the slow burn, this book is fairly fast paced, and also squeaky clean. No spice to be had. It was a funny yet emotional read, and I did end up enjoying it! The ending was so sweet!"
"11/10 Katherine Center has become one of my favorite authors. Her last 2 reads were rom-com home runs for me. The “Rom-Commers” has everything us hopeless romantics and lovers of love want in a book. Chemistry. Comedy. And the belief that even the most ordinary things can indeed be romantic, and the most heart-breaking stories can have happy endings. (Clean. Mild language.)"
"3.5 ⭐️ This was a cute read. I enjoyed how it felt like the FMC was talking to you at times. It did start slow for me and honestly the amount of times Emma repeated herself was flat out annoying. However, I did find several parts of it heartwarming and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get misty eyed a couple of times. Generally speaking a fun read that has the potential to pull at your heartstrings. "
"Authors talking to readers, making them a part of the story, could be the greatest gift fans ever receive. Emma, the mc has mental and literal word vomit. This almost made me dnf, but I gave the book a chance and obviously didn't regret it. The spewing of overstated words actually became comical after a while and was just part of Emma's character. She is from a no-where-town then gets thrust into the Hollywood scene. Of course, she is going to be flabbergasted 100% of the time.
The phrase "Never meet your idol" has never been more true. I actually gasped when she met Charlie he had absolutely no filter and maybe even had Asperger's. He was wicked good at what he did, and if anyone couldn't do as well as Charlie well, they just didn't try hard enough. It was lovely to watch him be humbled.
This was a very slow, sweet burn. The magic of it was that these two characters were in snazy Hollywood but became closer by just doing mundane things. Going grocery shopping and getting coffee, it was so rich and warm with a side of funny. But there was dramatics too. These two people have suffered in their own respect. It was like they were destined to heal each other's souls.
Emma was redheaded and enthusiastic. Her inner thoughts took forever. She had a very good moral compass. Charlie seemed like that classic old-school Hollywood actor. He was mysterious, handsome, with a lot of hurt beneath. Omg they were even googling each other's symptoms, haha. It was just a lot of monotonous freaking magic here, but it felt bigger than life. The book had sparkle and that ending..... swoon. So much selfless love I could not get enough of these people. 10 out of 10."
"I read one other book by Katherine Center and didn’t like it half as much as this one. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and felt both had personal conflicts that were grounded — kept me engaged. A great balance of silly and serious and lived up to having “Rom-com” in the title. "
"this was a fun cute read! a little different than I was expecting, but still a great book! it was kind of enemies to lovers but not in the way you think. I didn’t really like Charlie at first, he definitely had to grow on me and I think if Emma didn’t like him so much, I wouldn’t really think twice about him. you have to be patient and wait to understand why he was the way he was, closer to the end. I loved The Bodyguard so it was so fun seeing Jack (and Hannah sometimes too) throughout this book! I love Katherine Center’s writing and will continue to be a big fan of her books! 4/5 ⭐️"
