Brandon Mull’s New York Times bestselling series about siblings Seth and Kendra who discover their grandparents are the caretakers of a sanctuary for magical creatures! For centuries mystical creatures of all description were gathered into a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary survives today as one of the last strongholds of true magic. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite. Kendra and her brother, Seth, have no idea that their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven. Inside the gated woods, ancient laws keep relative order among greedy trolls, mischievous satyrs, plotting witches, spiteful imps, and jealous fairies. However, when the rules get broken—Seth is a bit too curious and reckless for his own good—powerful forces of evil are unleashed, and Kendra and her brother face the greatest challenge of their lives. To save their family, Fablehaven, and perhaps even the world, Kendra and Seth must find the courage to do what they fear most.

"It was a good book, had my attention the whole time, frickin’ Seth annoyed me when he didn’t learn from the first mistake he made even when the mistake was very memorable. You’d think a kid would be scared silly for at least the rest of the day/week but oh well.
It is funny to think about how we as humans will make a mistake and be slightly traumatized to not either make the same mistake again or make one that’s similar to it. At one point the author got very deep into talking about life and aging along with death when Kendra was having a conversation with Lena.

On a different note, I enjoyed picturing in my mind the fairies kissing imps, for some reason it made me chuckle."
"This book had an interesting premise with a terrible execution. The writing was choppy and the author desperately needed to add some descriptions. The characters weren’t fleshed out and mostly completely unlikable. Would be a 2 star read but I’m a sucker for mischievous fairies. Maybe the series gets better as it goes- but I don’t think I will be continuing it. "
"I loved this book at first but then I didn’t like it as much when I got to the 150s. I don’t usually reach for fantasy books but my mom recommended it to me so I decided to read it. I was very invested in it taking it wherever I went and then it just started to get boring in my opinion. It just kept dragging on and it got pretty annoying. But if you do like fantasy books you would probably like this one."
"book of my childhood- absolutely amazing"
