"If you enjoy the intersection of magical realism and historical fiction, this is a great read. A little slow and confusing to start, it picks up with gusto and you can't quite anticipate what's going to happen next. Lots of unexpected twists and turns that never feel like a "gotcha" or too much. Musical, evocative, pretty much everything I want from a novel. "
