"2/5 stars. I really enjoyed reading Linda Holmes’ Evvie Drake book (I love books with Maine as the setting) and was looking forward to Flying Solo. This book dragged on and on about a decoy duck, a dead aunt, and the female main character was annoying; I almost DNF, but carried on and ended up not liking the disappointing ending. The author was trying too hard to prove the female main character’s independence and it was repetitive. "
"I picked this up because I enjoyed Holmes’ first novel. Holmes creates the same cozy setting as in Evvie Drake, and I crawled right into Laurie’s world. I struggled a little with the ending but I think Holmes eventually lands in a satisfying place for Laurie and Nick. I was buying how things turned out."
"Unfortunately didn't enjoy this as much as the author's debut novel. Found this book slow and uninteresting (and the few interesting parts too convoluted)."

"I’m still confused why the duck held any significance in the beginning…also wasn’t a fan of the writing. You could say this one was a bit of an odd…duck."

"Entertaining but the “mystery” part was so silly, I had to laugh."
