Sheryl Sandberg
#1 INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER • “A landmark manifesto" (The New York Times) that's a revelatory, inspiring call to action and a blueprint for individual growth that will empower women around the world to achieve their full potential. In her famed TED talk, Sheryl Sandberg described how women unintentionally hold themselves back in their careers. Her talk, which has been viewed more than eleven million times, encouraged women to “sit at the table,” seek challenges, take risks, and pursue their goals with gusto. Lean In continues that conversation, combining personal anecdotes, hard data, and compelling research to change the conversation from what women can’t do to what they can. Sandberg, COO of Meta (previously called Facebook) from 2008-2022, provides practical advice on negotiation techniques, mentorship, and building a satisfying career. She describes specific steps women can take to combine professional achievement with personal fulfillment, and demonstrates how men can benefit by supporting women both in the workplace and at home.

"Literally the best book I have read all year. A must read for any man or woman interested in the workings of today's society, especially in the business world. Equality, feminism in its truest sense and the will of women to break out of their insecurities and comfort zones to lead, speak out and lean in. Read it!"
"What a boss. Sandberg crushes it with this book. It's a clear, well-written analysis of the personal and professional challenges that women face combined with a strong call to action that doesn't vilify men. Sandberg acknowledges the biological differences between men and women and contends that one of the best ways for men to support women in the workplace is to "do the laundry" (or more generally, more equally share in domestic and childraising responsibilities). Her overriding message is that there's no one-size-fits-all solution, but corporations and husbands can support women by being flexible and challenging traditional gender roles.

Do industries outside of Silicon Valley tech allow for this sort of flexibility right now? Certainly not. Can we get there someday? Probably. I imagine it involves robots and massive socio-economic upheaval. Traditional gender roles may be the least of the concerns at that point!"
"This book is so empowering! I read it looking for career advice, but it's really so much more than that. Everyone (women AND men) should read this and help fix the inherent issues we struggle with in the workforce and in life."

"I think my favorite part was the piece about making your partner an actual partner. I also liked the leadership skills vs bossy conversation. What about you?"
