Topic: Snow White
Reviews are in, and the new Snow White remake is... Apparently not great π Has anyone seen the film yet? Do you feel that its negative reception is deserved? Or do you feel differently? BECAUSE of all the buzz around the movie's press tour and all, I'll remind everyone to be civil, please. Thanks!

Road MasterΒ I haven't seen it yet. But I'm not hearing good things. Sounds like the reshot parts are obvious and jarring.

Godzilla fanΒ Has any of these live action remakes been great? There are 23 remakes, counting a few in production now. Jungle book and Beauty and the Beast are what I would call very good. The rest range from barely passable to bad to completely forgotten. Coming up Bambi, Hercules, Lilo and Stitch and The Hunchback.

Brandon ReedΒ Cinderella and The Jungle Book were very good movies, but The Jungle Book missed the point of the original story (or intentionally changed the point). Beauty and the Beast will, I believe, eventually be forgotten. I don't consider Alice in Wonderland (which is clearly a sequel) or Maleficent (which is clearly a separate adaptation) to be remakes, and they're both good. Few have reviewed as poorly as Snow White, however.

M. BonΒ I haven't seen all the live actions but taking them for what they are and being made βrealisticβ and more modern, I liked a few. Have not seen Snow White and it doesn't look good, but I liked Aladin, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Mulan. I even liked how they expanded on The little Mermaid with her and Eric, it made it more a believable love.

lyzander crossΒ It was the worst remake yet, Rachel Ziegler has no talent as an actor, I just want her carrier to die already

Brandon ReedΒ Her carrier, like her talent agent?

Nona LisaΒ Funnily enough, I read it the right way and only saw the misspelling after it was mentioned. That's speed reading for you!

JojoΒ I can't stand remix or reboot. They are the death of original ideas. Hollywood has resorted to nothing more than pure Nostalgia bait and cash grabs . As I was speaking with Roadmaster on this one day. I was saying Hollywood is where original ideas go to die and reboot, and remakes seem to be the strategy of the day. Also, the controversies that this movie has encountered on its way to the cinema are pretty off-putting to me.

Brandon ReedΒ What do you think the industry and moviegoers could do to break that cycle?

JojoΒ Just one more thing Hollywood and Disney specifically should remake or reboot properties that did poorly.

Brandon ReedΒ Yeah. I've said for years that the very first Disney movie to be remade should've been The Black Cauldron.

JojoΒ I wholeheartedly agree! I think the reason they stopped using her was because Dragon Ball, as a franchise, was headed to any more mature direction, and she just didn't fit in that direction. But I hope they bring her back in some capacity in the future. I had to change pfp again her guns kept getting obscured by the limited size of the pfp allowed.
