OK I know I will be in big trouble for this considering how monsterly popular this show was but I feel like rwbys world building/character writing was all over the place the fairytale themes where stretched out and I felt like they were surface level only in some cases and it felt like they either failed to research the character inspirations or just couldn't be bothered and some characters inspirations were two different characters mashed in ways that didn't make sense if you knew the story

Another fantasy film from late last month, Death of a Unicorn, released to mediocre reviews. This is disappointing, as I actually had my eye on this one. Has anyone seen this Paul Rudd/Jenna Ortega film? How was it?

I hear a lot of people say things like "they just don't make fantasy like they used to". Fantasy from the 80s frequently evokes strong positive feelings and opinions from people in ways that more modern fantasy just doesn't. What do you think it is about 80s fantasy that makes people love it so much that modern fantasy doesn't have? I'm not saying modern fantasy is bad. I love it. But it, "isn't the same". I will say, LotR will likely be spoken of similarly in coming decades.

I started thinking about comics and other such "hero" stories today. I personally think that after the 2nd or 3rd movie, the Asgardians should have just executed Loki. It also really bugs me when the "hero" wont kill the villain at the end of a movie because of some lame reasoning like, "Then I'd be no different.". ESPECIALLY after they spent the entire movie cutting down henchmen like wheat. What do you think of all this?

I just heard about this New Zealand made post-apocalyptic fantasy show from the mid 2000s. It sounds delightfully cheesy and imaginative in ways that studios just refuse to do these days. Thought others might be interested as well.

Releasing April 25, The Legend of Ochi appears to be a fantasy coming of age story in the vein of E.T. The baby Ochi is largely, if not entirely, a practical effect, with a team of puppeteers bringing the adorable creature to life.

So I'm hearing that the TTRPG card game, Magic: The Gathering is getting some screen adaptations. It's starting with a movie, then a show. It sounds like they're planning a whole MTG cinematic universe. Thoughts?

The next Shrek movie has finally had its cast announced. The original movie's main heroic cast returns, along with Zendaya as Shrek and Fiona's daughter. Antonio Banderas is notably absent from the cast list, for now, though he's not confirmed to be absent from the film.
