"This works more as a drama or dark comedy . I really like the way that this was filmed. The Eggers Brothers are masterful at film the unsettling and turning it into an art form. It was very Hitchcock . The creepy B movie haunted house music was a great touch. Unsettling and relentlessly . "

"A step mother who is crazy religious moves in with a young pregnant couple and imposes her will on them has thr potential to be good. However they got the tone all wrong. There are 2 types of gross outs, the comedic and the horror. This was supposed to be a horror but all the stuff they did had the opposite effect. This was full of gross out bathroom stuff that was more funny than anything. Nothing really happens the entire run time. It's not scary, there are no thrills and there is nothing mysterious about this. It's straight forward with a very basic ending. I will give the woman that played the step mother some credit. She really threw herself into that role. This felt more like a parody of a horror movie. It was just too silly to be taken seriously. Skip this one. "Contradicting my two star review, I didn’t hate this movie, the acting was good and it’s definitely gross and unsettling which is good for a horror movie, but the plot was a little jumbled. I’m not sure what path they were trying to go down, it seemed like there were multiple, but they never chose one and just ended it with a twist. But I didn’t regret watching it. People saying this isn’t horror, it is definitely a type of horror, a sub category within horror if you will. Not every horror needs to be scary per-say, some can just be disgusting and a nightmare feast for your eyes."
