"This was a pretty solid book to film adaptation except they lost it with the ending and the vital role of the closet. Overall, though considering this a killer st Benard this film was really well done it could of gone south and been comical or cheesy but I think they did they could with the material but they should of definitely followed the ending of the book that resonates and haunts you especially if you are a mother. "For some reason I've never seen this movie all the way through until now. It was actually very unsettling and the body horror was pretty gruesome. The genuine terror of the kid, the panic of the mom, and the dog attack scenes were all very intense. I'm a little shaken up. I don't think I want to watch this one again, ever."
"4/10. Probably the most referenced canine characters in horror comes from this utterly terrible film. Based on a Stephen King novel, this is essentially a early 80s "Made-for-TV" film that somehow made its way to the theatre to develop a cult status. This is not today's horror. It is prime time TV-level calibre. So are the actors. Incredible that this developed a reputation as a horror classic."
